2026 World Cup: Senegal's doctor was… a gynecologist

A new revelation has emerged about the behind-the-scenes workings of Senegal's 2026 World Cup campaign. During a press conference this Monday, the president of the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF), Abdoulaye Fall, indicated that he discovered after the tournament that the team's head doctor, Dr. Fedior, was a gynecologist. "I found out late. Dr. Fedior is a gynecologist. The players weren't convinced," he stated, as the federation continues its reorganization following the Lions' elimination against Belgium.

A questioning of the organization

Since the end of the World Cup, several issues have been raised, particularly concerning the preparation of the Lions of Teranga, the technical staff, and the organization of the delegation. The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) has even initiated dismissal proceedings against head coach Pape Thiaw and his staff.

While Dr. Fedior's specialty as a gynecologist does not detract from the fact that he is a medical doctor, Abdoulaye Fall's comments reflect the federation's desire to rely in the future on profiles more specialized in sports medicine to support the Senegalese team during major international competitions.
