In response to the ongoing fires in Gironde and Landes, SNCF has decided to extend the exceptional measures implemented for passengers. Tickets to or from the affected areas can still be exchanged or refunded free of charge, while rail service remains suspended south of Bordeaux until further notice. This decision aims to limit travel to the hardest-hit areas and facilitate the work of emergency services.
Train service remains suspended on several key routes, notably between Bordeaux and Arcachon, as well as between Bordeaux and Morcenx towards Dax, Mont-de-Marsan, Pau, Lourdes, and Tarbes. TGV trains heading southwest are also affected, with Bordeaux temporarily serving as the terminus for several national lines.
Prolonged disruptions
At Bordeaux-Saint-Jean station, travelers continue to face numerous cancellations and significant delays. The departure boards display a series of cancellations, and authorities are urging those who can to postpone their journeys in order to avoid further straining the transport infrastructure, which is already heavily burdened by managing the crisis.
SNCF recommends that passengers regularly check train schedules before departure. Exchange and refund policies will remain in effect as long as the situation requires, in accordance with government decisions and the ongoing fires that continue to threaten several areas in southwestern France.
