George Clooney has now been included in the ranking of the 500 wealthiest people in France. Having been granted French citizenship by decree at the end of December 2025, along with his wife Amal Clooney and their two children, the American actor appears at number 500 on the 2026 list. This entry is directly linked to his new status as a French citizen, which allows him to be included among the wealthiest French individuals listed this year.
A fortune built beyond cinema
George Clooney's fortune isn't solely based on his career as an actor, director, and producer. It was significantly boosted by the sale of Casamigos, the tequila brand he co-founded with Rande Gerber and Mike Meldman. In 2017, Diageo acquired Casamigos in a deal worth up to $1 billion, with an initial payment of $700 million and a potential additional payment of up to $300 million tied to the brand's performance.
A French installation dating back
George and Amal Clooney have had roots in France for several years. The couple owns a vineyard in Brignoles, in the Var region, which they purchased in 2021. The actor has repeatedly explained how much he appreciates life in France, particularly for the peace and quiet it offers his children, far from the pressure of the American media and the paparazzi outside schools.
A ranking still dominated by the great luxury dynasties
At the top of the 2026 rankings, Bernard Arnault and his family reclaim first place, with a fortune estimated at over €121 billion. They are ahead of the Hermès family, estimated at €114 billion, followed by Alain and Gérard Wertheimer, shareholders of Chanel. George Clooney's arrival at the very bottom of the rankings is therefore noteworthy, but it attracts attention due to his unusual profile: a Hollywood star who became a French citizen, whose fortune stems as much from entertainment as from spirits.
