An open-air cinema is being set up on the roof of the Moulin Rouge.

From July 15 to September 2, 2026, the Bar à Bulles transforms its rooftop terrace overlooking Pigalle into an open-air cinema. For its new edition of "Cinema on the Roof," the festival offers eight free screenings around the theme "Trajectories," inviting the public to discover stories of lives turned upside down, unexpected journeys, and encounters that change a destiny.

Eight films to explore the paths of existence

Every Wednesday evening this summer, viewers can gather on the rooftop of Bar à Bulles, located above La Machine du Moulin Rouge, for an experience blending cinema and Parisian panoramas. Settled outdoors, facing the lights of the capital and the famous Pigalle cabaret, participants can rediscover films that explore the movements of life and the turning points that shape personal journeys.

The 2026 program revolves around characters in motion, whether through physical journeys, inner transformations, or unexpected encounters. The cycle will begin on July 15 with Agnès Varda's "Cléo from 5 to 7," followed by Michael Dudok de Wit's "The Red Turtle" on July 22. Audiences will then be able to discover Alice Wu's "Saving Face," Juho Kuosmanen's "Compartment 6," Anna Muylaert's "A Second Mother," Nadine Labaki's "Capernaum," Jim Jarmusch's "Night on Earth," and finally Steven Spielberg's "E.T." to close the event on September 2.

Through these eight films, the festival offers a journey between great classics, auteur cinema and contemporary works, with a common thread: those moments when an existence takes a new direction.

A Parisian terrace transformed into a screening room

Beyond the film program, the originality of "Cinema on the Roof" lies in its setting. The Bar à Bulles, located above La Machine du Moulin Rouge in the 18th arrondissement, offers an unusual backdrop for a summer movie screening. The terrace allows you to enjoy an open-air film while remaining in the heart of one of Paris's most iconic neighborhoods.

The screenings are free, but reservations are required and subject to availability. Tickets go on sale every Thursday before the screening, starting at noon, through the La Machine du Moulin Rouge box office. A waiting list is also available on-site for those wishing to try their luck on the evening of the screening.

With its blend of cinema, city views and summery atmosphere, "Cinema on the Roof" offers a different way to discover or rediscover films, far from traditional cinemas and under the Parisian sky.
