A few days after the Cannes Film Festival ended, the city welcomed a completely different face of cinema. On May 30th and 31st, Théo Fernandez, known to the public for his role as "Coin-Coin" in the Les Tuche film series, set up his casting truck opposite the Miramar cultural center, offering anyone interested the chance to have a free, short, one- to two-minute screen test in front of a professional casting director. Nearly 300 people came to try their luck over the two days. The initiative, conceived with Jules, a film and television technician with whom the 27-year-old actor regularly works, has been touring France for a year, from Lille to Bordeaux, including stops in Marseille and Montpellier. Next stop: Lyon in July.

Simple access, without selection or fees, to pass through the first door

The concept is intentionally obstacle-free. Participants scan a QR code on the truck to register, get their assigned time slot, and then present themselves without stress. They can perform a text provided on-site or bring their own scene, and can leave with footage of their performance. "I want people to avoid putting themselves in financial danger. Getting into a studio or drama school is complicated and expensive," Théo Fernandez explained to France 3 Côte d'Azur. "My advice? Don't try to be perfect, but try to be yourself," he added. In the truck, casting director Albane provides supportive guidance to each participant. Among the Cannes-based hopefuls are Jules, 22, a business student who came out of curiosity after a few months of theater, and Lily, 11, from Fréjus, who "wants to be an actress" and already makes short films with her friends. Théo Fernandez also offers an online school called Anyone to extend the support beyond the truck.
