The Angoulême Francophone Film Festival has unveiled new elements of its 2026 selection, just weeks before the opening of its 19th edition, scheduled from August 24 to 29. Chaired by actor Franck Dubosc, this edition will pay national tribute to actress Nathalie Baye, who passed away last April.
An opening directed by Marc Fitoussi, a closing focused on television
The festival will open with Marc Fitoussi's "Ni vue, ni connu" (Neither Seen Nor Known), starring Isabelle Huppert and Sandrine Kiberlain, before closing with "Dix pour cent" (Call My Agent!), the film directed by Émilie Noblet as a continuation of the cult series, whose entire cast is expected to attend the closing night. A total of around thirty films will make up the official competition and previews, with the list expected to grow in the coming weeks.
According to festival co-founder Dominique Besnehard, paying tribute to Nathalie Baye was a natural choice, given the special place the actress, a loyal supporter of the festival, held in its history. This tribute will take the form of a retrospective of her career as well as the inauguration of a square named after her, a decision already approved by the Angoulême city council.
Cambodia is in the spotlight for this 19th edition
This year the festival also dedicates a retrospective to Cambodian cinema, with nine films shot in the country or devoted to it included in the program, alongside the eleven films selected to celebrate the career of Nathalie Baye.
Created by Marie-France Brière and Dominique Besnehard, the festival has established itself over its nineteen editions as a recognized springboard for popular French-language cinema, notably revealing films that have become national successes such as Intouchables or Vingt Dieux.
