Chinese automaker Seres has filed a patent for a toilet system concealed under a vehicle seat, which can be activated by voice command. Designed for long journeys or camping trips, this device could meet users' needs without requiring a stop.

The system relies on a sliding seat that reveals the toilet, which can be operated manually or via a dedicated voice command. It also includes a ventilation mechanism to remove odors, as well as a waste collection tank that must be emptied regularly.

An innovation still at the concept stage

Onboard toilets are not new in some vehicles, such as motorhomes, but their discreet integration into a regular car is a significant innovation. The system also includes a heating element that dehydrates waste.

This initiative is part of a broader trend among Chinese manufacturers to introduce a growing number of innovative features to attract consumers, particularly in the electric vehicle sector. However, no model equipped with this system has yet been announced, and its commercial rollout remains uncertain.
