Vietnam: Tô Lâm's reappointment sparks a flood of international praise

The General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, To Lam, has received numerous congratulatory messages in recent days following his re-election, a sign of the attention being paid to Vietnam's political trajectory amid a tense international context. According to the official VNA news agency, party leaders, heads of state and government, as well as international organizations, have praised his continued leadership, particularly from Russia, Japan, the United States, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, South Korea, Jordan, and Turkey.

In Moscow, the Chairman of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, Gennady Zyuganov, emphasized the "recognition" of the role of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the legitimacy of the Vietnamese leader during a period marked by global tensions. Other Russian officials, such as Sergei Mironov, stressed the internal unity of the Vietnamese party and the strengthening of the Russo-Vietnamese strategic partnership, presented as a lasting axis of cooperation.

Washington mentions trade, security, and an official invitation

In the region, Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong recalls the elevation of bilateral relations to the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership during Tô Lâm's official visit to Singapore in March 2025, while Thailand emphasizes strengthening ties as the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations approaches in 2026. South Korea, for its part, insists on intensifying political and economic exchanges and hopes for a swift meeting with the Vietnamese leader.

Finally, congratulations were also sent by King Abdullah II of Jordan and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, confirming the expansion of Vietnam's diplomatic channels and the importance given to its political stability.
