With just days to go before the Les Flammes awards ceremony, scheduled for April 23rd at La Seine Musicale, two names have already emerged as the frontrunners: Theodora and Hamza. Both have garnered seven nominations, illustrating their growing influence in the rap and urban culture scene.
Riding a meteoric rise, Theodora could solidify her status as a major new figure on the French music scene, a year after being named female revelation of the year. Meanwhile, Hamza continues to establish himself as a key player, particularly thanks to his tracks blending trap and pop influences.
Theodora is on the rise, Hamza a serious contender
At just 22 years old, Theodora is racking up successes. Already a winner at the Victoires de la Musique awards in February with four trophies, she has reached another milestone in recent months. Her song "Melodrama," released in September 2025, made a lasting impression by breaking the record for the longest-running streamed track in France, dethroning Pharrell Williams' "Happy."
The young artist, now known as "Miss Kitoko," captivates audiences with both her visual style and her stage performances. Her recent concerts at the Zénith in Paris confirmed this enthusiasm, with particularly noteworthy shows. She is notably nominated for a duet with Disiz, while her brother, Jeez Suave, is also among the finalists in the Best Composer category.
Facing her is Hamza, who boasts an equally impressive track record. The Belgian rapper is in contention thanks to his song KYKY2BONDY, a track brimming with cultural references. He could very well emerge as one of the big winners of this edition.
An edition marked by diversity and a record vote
While the competition promises to be fierce, other artists are determined to make their mark. Aya Nakamura is once again among the nominees, alongside diverse profiles such as Maureen, Meryl, and Ronisia. On the men's side, heavyweights like Jul, Ninho, and Gims remain in contention, while Guy2Bezbar has garnered five nominations.
This fourth edition is also notable for the scale of public participation. According to the organizers, approximately 810,000 voters took part in the selections, an unprecedented figure that reflects the growing interest in this ceremony. The results are based on a combination of votes from the public, juries, and industry professionals.
Broadcast live on France 4 and online, the evening promises to reflect the vitality of a constantly evolving music scene, where new figures like Theodora are shaking up established balances.
