Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, said the recently released hostages had “gone through hell”The statement underscores the harsh ordeals they endured while in captivity. The statement comes as the first three Israeli hostages freed by Hamas arrived in Israel.
At the same time, the international community has reacted positively to the ceasefire agreement and the release of the hostages. The French President, Emmanuel Macron, expressed a “immense relief” for the Gazans and a “Hope for the hostages”, while urging both parties to respect the agreement.
For his part, the American president, Joe Biden, welcomed the deal, saying it would end fighting in Gaza and increase humanitarian aid to Palestinian civilians.
