VIDEO – Panic at Indonesian airport: ceiling collapses due to rain

A scene of panic occurred at Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Indonesia when part of the ceiling collapsed after several days of heavy rain accompanied by strong winds.

The accident occurred at gate 7, around 13:40 p.m. Indonesian West Time, while many passengers were in the boarding area.

“There were a lot of people, I only had time to run.”

Among the witnesses, a passenger departing for Singapore recounted the scene: "The incident occurred at gate 7, around 13:40 p.m. There were a lot of people, thank God I still had time to run.", did he declare.

The airport confirms a weather-related incident

According to airport authorities, the ceiling collapse was caused by the combined effects of wind and rain and persistent bad weather conditions in several parts of the country.

Yudistiawan, deputy deputy in charge of communications and legal affairs at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, assured that the disruption was only brief.

Authorities did not immediately specify whether there were any injuries, but this collapse is already raising questions about the resilience of airport infrastructure to extreme weather.
