A fire broke out late Tuesday evening, August 11, in Villeneuve-en-Perseigne, in northern Sarthe. The fire started around 21 p.m. and quickly spread through the dry vegetation. The flames destroyed two hectares of grass before being brought under control by firefighters.
Seventeen firefighters mobilized
Seventeen firefighters were mobilized to extinguish the blaze. The operation took place in difficult conditions due to the dry vegetation, which is particularly vulnerable during this summer period.
Firefighters managed to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to surrounding areas. No injuries were reported during the nighttime operation.
